January 17, CWLP Smart Energy Forum: C6 p.m. City Council Chamberswelcomes input and ideas to help shape the most effective and desirable energy conservation programs. These programs will be good for the environment and will y a cost savings on our customers' utility bills. In order to make it as easy as
possible to gather ideas and suggestions, CWLP has established this Smart Energy Forum to reach out directly to the community.


January 26, Friends of Sangamon Valley Wolf Preserve, Menard County, 10:00 am.  Assist volunteers with stewardship at this 68-acre woodland. 
Carpool leaves a half hour earlier from the Hardee's at Walnut & Jefferson in Springfield, or meet us at the Wolf at 10:00 am.
 Wear sturdy boots and bring your own work gloves.

January 29 5:15-7:15 pm, Citizens Club of Springfield Forum, "Springfield's Future Water Needs":to inform and educate Springfield citizens on the need for a rational future water policy.  Experts will discuss the current status of a second lake, climate predictions and underground/surface water alternatives.  A panel will
debate various options. Hoogland Center for the Arts - Main Theatre

January 29 7:30pm, Geo-Thermal Heating & Cooling Program at Sustainable Springfield's Meeting: Richard Hiles of the Carrier Corp presents a program on
Geo-Thermal heat pump systems that provide 100% of a home's seasonal heating and cooling requirements by utilizing the earth's constant temperature as a
renewable energy source.

February 11, 5th Annual Vermicomposting Symposium: This year’s keynote will be Amy Stewart, an author whose latest book is on the issue of the
“invasion” of worms up in MN
. $35 to attend which includes lunch and educational materials, as well as great speakers. Details to be announced.

February 19, 2008 The topic is "Green Teams" Sustainable Springfield Meeting, Dove center 7:00 pm: Brett Ivers, the recycling coordinator for the IL
Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity presents a program on how governmental agencies, municipal offices, and private sector business are
establishing green practices in the work place.

April 2, 2008   Faith Based Environmental Advocacy, 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Capitol Building

April 11-12, 2008 Illinois Sustainable Living and Wellness Expo, Illinois Wesleyan University Shirk Center: Join over 100 exhibitors and 30 presenters
at the Illinois Wesleyan University Shirk Center to learn about the many aspects of sustainability and wellness. Our theme this year is Wellness: Farm to Fork.
Look for special food-related workshops, samples, and information. The event is free and open to the public.
